We were traveling last week.
We went to visit a Missionary couple the Cases, who are leaving in July.
We wanted to check out the area to see if we wanted to move down there at our 9 mo. mark.
First we drove to Gilgandra where the Branch Pres. Chris Ryan of Dubbo Branch, lives.
They own a Motel, the Elders were there for Preparation Day,
so we stayed at the Motel.
It was fun to spent time with the Elders and the Ryan family.
Two cute boys and a 3 mo. old baby girl.
You know I held her as much as I could to make up a little bit for not being able to hold Ember.
Also a lovely wife and Mum.
The Pres. Ryan is the only Priesthood holder in his Branch.
Pres. Ryan has only been active for the last 3 years.
We then drove to Dubbo on Tuesday morning so I could go to Curves and then have breakfast.
Of course it had started raining Monday night.
It seems to rain every time we travel.
Then rained almost the whole time we were gone.
We drove to Orange where the Cases live.
The drive is very lovely, country, country, country. Rolling hills, trees, farms, ranches, animals I love it!
Orange is a pretty town but very cold in the winter and damp. Things smell musty. The nice part is it does not get hot in the summer.
We talked lots with the Cases and shared ideas of what to do, played games, ate, etc.
We stayed with the Cases, they have a nice little flat.
Wednesday we drove back up to Dubbo (in the rain) to visit different sites.
We went to a business where they make boomerangs, etc. It turned out the they had closed, but the lady showed us what they had left. We bought several things. As we were about to leave she asked if we were Missionaries. It was a dark room, we all had our badges on but she did not see them. We all said yes she then said she was a member of the church. We had a fun visit with her and got everything for a really good price.
We went to the Ugg factory, I ordered some boots I can wear to church here and at home so my feet don't freeze. I can get warm everywhere else but my feet.
We also stopped at a Aboriginal monument. It was made out of old bridge girders, rocks, etc. (I will put a picture of it on the blog later)
Thursday we went down to Bathhurst and visited the Branch Pres. Rier who runs the Aboriginal Arts section of the prison. We visited him at the prison to see the art work they were doing. (picture of the prison gate to be posted later)
Sister Case and I, of course had to check out the Op-shops, (as they are called here) second hand stores. We then left for Wellington, had lunch at McDonald's (that gets old after a while but you know what you are getting).
Dee called a Doney he had an appointment with to share Genealogy. She would be driving a bus at the time we would get there and it would be to late for us to wait and drive home after meeting. She will be coming to Tamworth in July to meet her Son and Grandchildren who are coming down from Glenn Innes. We will all get together then.
We then drove to Parks. I will do another post about that later, very interesting.
We drove home in the rain and dark.
It takes about 6 or 7 hrs to drive to Orange.
We had a very good time.
