Dirt Storm

Last Tuesday we had wind all day then that night we had a thunder storm with lots of rain. Wednesday we woke up to red skies, huge winds and then it was orange the rest of the day. It was wind and dirt all day. The wind brought over tons and tons of dirt from the outback. We did not need all the dirt and the farmers out West sure do, they will miss it as it is their good top soil.
We spent the day trying not to be blown away. We had some appointments so we had to go out in the mess. Everything is covered in red dirt. Thursday it was nice then Friday came and here was another dirt storm. It was only orange most of the day, not as bad. By afternoon it cleared up, the wind, not the dirt. Vacuum, dust, wash down and it is still dirty. Today Sunday the wind blew and blew reminds me of the Santa Ana's in So. Cal.

Thursdays

Serving at the Sydney Temple on Thursdays is very nice.
It is an all day affair as we leave for Sydney at 10:oo AM and get home after 9:00 PM.
It is a nice drive down the freeway to Sydney until we get to Pennant Hills Rd. Then all the freeway traffic goes on to that road as it is a main road through that part of Sydney. All the trucks are on the road with you. It's like the 60 or 710 freeways in LA. The Temple is right on that road. The Temple grounds are beautiful as are all the Temple grounds around the world. On the same grounds are the Mission office, some regional offices, Family Services, a distribution center and three homes. All very lovely.

Good Things

We have met and are teaching The Bannisters who were Baptised in England in the early 80's. They have been here for 15 yrs. and attended church on and off. They don't drive and the bus does not go up or by the church. No one got their records sent here so we are now working on it. We picked them up for church last Sunday. It was a good experience for them. We are meeting with them each week to help them remember the things they were taught.

We were set apart as Ordinance workers in the Sydney Temple. We will serve each week on Thursday from noon to 6:30 PM. We will do this instead of Ronald McDonald House.

This is the good news for today.

Not a Good Month

Sometimes things just don't seem to go just your way! Well this past month since we moved something has gone wrong each week. First the Computer, then the Phone line, the car was hit and dented while parked in Toronto last week, I have had to have dental work done and it is paid out of pocket (ours) hopefully Delta Dental will pay some of it when we send the paid bills to them and today a rock hit the car windscreen and cracked it. Sometimes you cannot win.

We seem to be in Operation again!

I hope this works.
We have moved and settled in.
The phone problems have been taken care of.
We are using pre-paid wireless so we will see how that works out.
This past week end was Stake Conference, really out standing talks in all meetings.
Sundays meeting were held in the Great Hall at Newcastle University.
It is a lovely place to meet. It is surrounded by trees but so is almost everything else,
here in Toronto.
Sunday morning we had a 9 AM new member and investigator meeting with Pres Scruggs.
It was out standing. The Pres. has a great way of expressing himself. Very down to earth.
We got to see many of the Tamworth members, we miss them a lot.
We have been meeting the members in Toronto and getting to know a little bit about getting around here. It is rolling hills covered with trees, beside a beautiful lake. The little town reminds me of small California sea side towns.
We live up on a hill side and have a little view. We can see the Chapel from our flat but can't get there from here without going down the hill and around then back up the other hill. No straight road to it from here.
I need to get going and go for a walk. We then need to get ready to go teach the Bannisters. A sweet little couple from England (15 yrs ago) One of the indicators that we have been here for quite a while is we are understanding people now. People we could not understand when we came here we now understand. We do adjust.
